Another man injured in 1 of many construction workers’ accidents

A paramedic with the Schoharie County EMS says they responded to a workplace accident that was reported just after 9:30 a.m. on a recent Tuesday. This was one of many construction workers’ accidents that have been reported in the state of New York over the last few months. Reportedly, this incident occurred at a road construction site in Otsego County.

According to the county sheriff, the work crew was busy with a project involving a ditch and a bridge. As workers were being elevated to work on the underneath part of the bridge structure, the machine that was used to lift them apparently tipped over. One worker was trapped under the heavy piece of equipment.

Emergency crews arrived and managed to extricate the injured worker from under the machine. Reportedly, he was the airlifted to the Albany Medical Center. Not many details about his condition were released except the fact that he suffered unspecified injuries to his head. Emergency crews from several surrounding areas responded to assist with the rescue.

Any construction workers’ accidents that involve head injuries can have life-changing consequences for the victims. Even mild brain trauma can affect a victim’s life on various levels. Although benefits claims can be filed with the workers’ compensation insurance program of New York, obtaining the maximum benefits for a potentially debilitating injury can be challenging. An experienced workers’ comp attorney can assess the impact on a victim’s career and family life when navigating the claims process on behalf of an injured worker. If a permanent or temporary disability is caused, additional benefits along with medical and income loss compensation may be awarded.
