Veteran FAQ: Is Exposure to Toxic Substances Eligible for VA Benefits?

Video Transcript

Hi, my name is Janet Santeramo. I’m a Marine Persian Gulf War veteran and partner at Turley, Redmond and Rosasco, a full service disability law firm.

A question veterans frequently ask is if I’m exposed to a toxic substance during my military service and I later become ill, am I eligible to receive benefits through the VA? The VA assumes that certain conditions are related to exposure to toxic substances if the veteran was stationed in a particular location and during a specific period of time. These toxic substances include, but are not limited to, Agent Orange, the water supply at Camp Lejeune and most recently the burn pits. The list of presumptive illnesses is quite extensive and continues to grow on a daily basis.

If you have questions about your particular condition, give us a call at 1-877-NY-DBLAW. My name is Janet Santeramo. Thank you for watching.
