Veteran FAQ: Is A Dishonorably Discharged Veteran Eligible for VA Benefits?

Video Transcript

Hi. My name is Janet Santeramo. I’m a marine, Persian Gulf War veteran, and partner at Turley Redmond Rosasco and Rosasco, a full-service disability law firm.

Veterans frequently ask if they’ve been dishonorably discharged from military service, can they still receive benefits from the VA. Under usual circumstances, if a veteran was dishonorably discharged, they would be barred from receiving benefits from the VA. However, under certain circumstances, a
dishonorable discharge can be modified or upgraded. Based upon a review of the veteran’s service records and medical records, they may be eligible for review and modification of their discharge status.
