Off The Record TRR Veterans’ Disability Virtual Hearings

Video Transcript

There are some veterans who had some hearings scheduled before the Board of Veterans’ Appeals. Those hearings have now been pushed to either a video hearing teleconference or they’ll have to be rescheduled sometime in 2021. I’m not sure when regular hearings are going to start taking place. There are some reasons why a veteran may want to pursue the virtual hearing option. That’s if you want to get the hearing done and over with. If it’s a situation where you want to actually see the judge face to face, and there are reasons for that, that would be something that you might want to discuss with your representative or your attorney. And also think about how important it is for the judge to actually physically see you. In those situations, you may want to wait until 2021 and have that hearing rescheduled.

Other than that, if it’s not something that the judge is physically going to see, you may want to move forward with a virtual hearing. But right now, that’s where BVA hearings are going. The other option is higher-level review. There’s always the option to have a phone conference with a representative from the VA so that maybe you don’t have to go to hearing. Many times the veteran’s situation can be resolved with higher-level review. So those are just some options to think about now under the current circumstances. Certainly, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at Turley Redmond & Rosasco. Thank you and stay safe.
