TRR Workers’ Comp Working From Home

Video Transcript

Hi, I’m Bill Turley, the senior partner at Turley, Redmond and Rosasco.

So, working at home is really nothing new to the workforce, but of course, during the pandemic, it has become a lot more prevalent. So, a lot more people are working from home now. So, the question’s come up that, you know, if you get injured while you’re working at home, would you be covered by Workers’ Compensation, and the answer is yes. Let me give you an example.

Let’s say that you’re working, you’re using your laptop, and you’re on the top floor of your home, and you want to get some better reception with your Wi-Fi or whatever, and you take the laptop, and you decide you want to walk down the stairs and find a better place, and you slip and fall while you’re coming down the stairs, and you get injured. That would be considered a work-related injury because you were in the course of your employment at the time.

Now, not everything that you do while you’re at home, while you’re working at home is going to be covered, but it’s the kind of thing you really should discuss with an attorney before proceeding with a claim. So, you can contact us at www.nydisabilitylaw.com for a free consultation. If you’ve been injured while you’re working from home, working remotely, give us a call.
