Speaker 1: So, Claudia, recently I received a phone call that says there’s been a long delay in the process for getting approved for benefits, or even the process alone for Social Security benefits has been delayed. Do you know anything about that?

Claudia: That’s true. Unfortunately, with COVID, things have really slowed down, especially at the initial and reconsideration [inaudible 00:00:22]. Currently, in New York, there are two levels before you appear before a judge, and the first two are very, very backed up. Because the offices were shut down for a while, there was no in-person visits with the Social Security doctors. So there’s a huge backlog, so that process is taking very long. Unfortunately, a lot of people also don’t know that it’s free to get an attorney, and that attorneys only get paid if and when they win their case. So I think a lot of people are battling this on their own when they should have had the support of a law firm that would be able to help them navigate the system and properly navigate the system to get the best outcome, so they don’t have to go through so many levels.
