Off the Record – Workers’ Comp Claim for Vision Loss
Video Transcript
Hi, I’m Amy Berlin, one of the partners at Turley, Redmond & Rosasco. Today, I want to talk about something many people don’t realize may be covered by workers’ compensation: vision loss.
One of the most common types of vision loss we see is traumatic vision loss, which can happen in a variety of ways. It may occur when debris or other materials become lodged in the eye. We’ve also represented a client who suffered an eye stroke after lifting a very heavy object, resulting in permanent vision loss.
If you’ve experienced any type of vision problem because of a workplace accident, it’s important to come in and speak with us. Even if you’re unsure whether you’re entitled to workers’ compensation benefits, there’s a good chance you may have a valid claim.
Some vision conditions can also develop gradually over time due to workplace exposures. For example, repeated exposure to dust, flying debris, or other hazardous materials can cause lasting eye damage. If you’ve noticed changes in your vision that you believe may be related to your job, we encourage you to have your case evaluated.
Other work-related eye injuries can include retinal detachments caused by heavy lifting, eye injuries from explosions, or accidents involving objects striking the eye. Every situation is different, but many of these injuries may qualify for workers’ compensation benefits.
If your vision loss is work-related, you may be entitled to medical treatment and compensation for any permanent loss of vision.
At Turley, Redmond & Rosasco, we’re here to guide you through the workers’ compensation process and help you pursue the benefits you deserve.
Contact us today to discuss your situation. We’re here to answer your questions and help every step of the way.
