Crane collapse results in new fines

The collapse of an enormous crane on Worth Street on February 5, 2016, highlights the dangers that construction workers face every day. Questions remain about the exact cause of the collapse, although high winds may be partly to blame. The collapse occurred while the crane was being lowered due to dangerous wind gusts. String Of Accidents Highlights The Dangers Construction Workers Face

Month after month, workers on New York construction sites suffer life-changing injuries or even death. The New York Daily News highlights this fact by its continual coverage of such tragic incidents. It reports that in September 2015, a 30-year-old construction worker was working on building renovations on the Upper East Side when he fell, striking scaffolding below. His injuries were fatal. The very next month, in October 2015, a 26-year-old worker was killed while helping renovate a building.
